WOOD STOVE INSERT INSTALLATION

by Ron

I have a Craft Stove insert. The size of the stove fits the fireplace nicely. Is the insert ready to use, OR do you have to add any other piping? Will the chimney pull the smoke up and out naturally?

Answer

Ron,

The installation of a fireplace insert will vary considerably based upon the type of fireplace you have to start out with. Most inserts require that you install a new chimney liner that will attach to the insert through a connector.

It's best to contact the manufacturer of the insert to receive proper instructions on installation to avoid problems in the future. Also, you should check with local building and fire codes to ensure that it is done properly.

If you are in doubt, it's always a smart idea to have a professional do the installation. It may cost more money initially, but you'll have the peace of mind to know that you are using the appliance safely.

All the best,

Firewood Matt
