Peach and Apricot as Firewood Trees

My grandmother had trees fall in her yard and I'm getting them cleaned up. The trees are Peach and Apricot. Instead of pitching them, I'd like to know if they can be burned indoors (either in a my living room fireplace or wood stove in basement) when seasoned or are they toxic in either place. Thank you for your time!

Answer

Both peach and apricot trees are fine to burn in both the woodstove and fireplace. These species (similar to most other fruit trees) burn relatively well and also give out a pleasant aroma.

If you know anyone who cooks with a woodsmoker, they would probably be grateful for a few logs. Burning these species makes for a great taste when smoking meats.

Apricot for Chicken NEW
by: Cathleen

We used some apricot wood to cook some chicken one time and boy was the chicken the best we had ever had. It had a golden glow and was so juicy you would believe it. Hands down the best wood to use for chicken.
