Is Magnolia good to use for firewood ?

by Rose Galloway

Is Magnolia good to use for fire wood ? My neighbor is cutting her tree down. It would not cost me anything except a few working hands. Please advise, thanks!

Answer

Magnolia is a below average firewood species, but it is certainly suitable for burning. Basically it's not a dense as more prized firewood species such as oak and hickory, but it does burn. Provided that you process and let the wood season properly, it will work fine.
