Firewood Conveyor

A firewood conveyor is a great piece of equipment to have around if you handle large amounts of firewood. But to be honest, it's probably an unnecessary item unless you are running a firewood business.

How does it work?

It works just like any other conveyor except it is built to handle already processed pieces of firewood. Most models are powered by a small engine that runs a hydraulic pump. This pump powers the conveyor which in most models consists of a chain driven setup which moves a steel conveyor.

The most unique part of the conveyor is the ability to adjust its height. Most models use a hydraulic cylinder to allow the height to be adjusted. This is a handy feature as it allows you to set the proper height to load into a truck or to create tall piles of firewood.

Who should buy one?

Honestly, unless you run a firewood business, you really don't need a conveyor. They aren't cheap (models can cost upwards of $10,000 depending on the length) and they really aren't necessary for the average firewood cutter.

Generally speaking, if you do run a firewood business and use a processor, you could definitely benefit from a conveyor. In the firewood business, less time handling the wood equals more profit. For that reason, I do recommend looking into this piece of equipment if you have a business and move a fair volume of firewood.

Recommendation

The average firewood cutter probably won't ever realize the benefits of a conveyor to offset its cost. However, if you are looking to take your firewood business to the next level, you may benefit from one of these conveyors.
